Yeah, they have issues for sure. Good call on the Rams though, they rolled today.

It amazes me how bad so many NFL analysts are, both in newspaper and on tv....Mark Sanchez had a couple of good games and people were acting like he's a star...One of my best bets today was Green Bay, Sanchez cannot quarterback against any team that has a pass rush. He's a second string QB at best and that's all he ever was.

I'm a bad analyst.
Don't get paid for it, though.

this feels like a "sucker game" but I'll go down with the rest of the sheep on this one. I think New England can upset Luck's looks. Even @ Indy.

Tampa Bay surprised me today. For some reason the Skins seemed to play a lot better with Colt McCoy at the helm. This RGIII is starting to look like one of the most over hyped athletes in modern history.

I hear you.....I bet this stuff once or twice a year, if that
It's fun to watch, but too hard to make money.

I think our offense will be fine, but worry about our defense getting pressure on brady.

weird note: the jones brothers are the only players out for the game. :faint:

RGIII is the new Vince Young!

Can't believe Brady threw that interception to end the 1st half.

RGIII has gotten so banged up in his brief career,
it's a wonder he can still walk.

How do you get a better football name than Colt McCoy?
Maybe Johnny Football is better, but that doesn't go
on a birth certificate. The perfect gun slinger name.
Being white, and from Texas, too.
Wow........

I'll be very surprised if Colt McCoy makes much noise in the NFL, though.

Well, they both will have done better in
the NFL than Ryan Leaf and Todd Marinovich, right?
Guess you could throw Matt Leinart
and a few other white boys in there, too.

Know an avid football bettor (70s, white, GOP type)
who had a variety of angles and systems that he used
in his search for gridiron winners. One of his favorites
for both NCAA and NFL was betting against black quarterbacks.
He thought it was pretty clever, and swore it was profitable.

I have my doubts whether it was a winner for him,
and I do remember laughing my ass off when he got buried in SB XXII.
He unloaded on Elway and the Broncos against
the Redskins led, of course, by Doug Williams.

His system wasn't too good that day.

I loved the Redskins in that Super Bowl. There have been a few Super Bowls where I was extremely confident and that was one of them. The Redskins had that NFC size and power advantage.

Steelers were one of my picks this week. I thought the line seemed a bit low, but they figure to be fired up after last week's blunder, Titans offense struggles and now they have a rookie QB going and their tight end is out with a concussion.

All things being equal, the Steelers should handle this team.

Zach Mettenberger is the rookie QB of the Titans. He actually looks pretty solid to me.

Baltimore came out ultra-conservative last week, and Mettenger executed some scripted plays fairly well for a drive or two. Then Baltimore opened up and put Tennessee away. Game is @Tenn, so there's always a chance Mettenberger builds on his previous game.

I'm not crazy about the fact that some 85-90% of the money is down on Pittsburgh for this game. I'm not saying the NFL is fixed or the refs control the game, but there's a lot I don't understand about the betting action, and it seems to be 'bad voodoo' to go to the well, to play heavy favorites in the NFL too often.

I really don't know what I'm doing with picking football, and I like the Steelers, and I feel they have a chance to put this game out of reach at some point.

No opinion on the game, but PIT -6 and TEN +7 works for me.

This is the 4th year that I've been posting my NFL Best Bets on my website. Even with a losing year last year, my overall record is 80 wins and 62 losses against the spread. To me the key is spot plays, impossible to win picking every game, and looking for strengths against weakness (for instance, a good passing team against a bad pass defense).

I've had good years and I've had bad. This one has been really bad. Even had I done super well every year I'd still say the biggest part is luck.

There's a certain amount of luck in any form of gambling, but there are good sports handicappers just like there are good horse handicappers, and there certainly are professional sports bettors, and they don't rely on luck. Sure, sometimes the team you bet is not going to play well, but those things even out in the long run. Just like when you bet a horse and the horse has an off day.

This RGIII is starting to look like one of the most over hyped athletes in modern history.

Yea. He shouldn't be starting @ QB for a team with playoff hopes, and they made him into a star.

I actually like that read-option running game stuff as an alternative for teams who can't land a 'real' QB.

But you have to be honest when you run a gimmick or when you run something unorthodox.

You can't run a gimmick and then run to "Madison Avenue".

The Skins were doing some neat stuff with RGIII, but they pretended like he was some star. And they made him carry the load and run for 800 yards in his one good year, and they used his face to sell season tickets and cable TV, and sponsors jumped in as well.

Had they run the same shit they ran with RGIII in 2012, only using something like a 3-headed monster of RGIII and Pryor and Tebow... Used them hard, don't have any care in the world if they get banged up, and invest in them like backup QBs/RBs ... and maybe the Skins could have become a consistent Wild Card type of team that is somewhat interesting to watch.
