MY DESKTOP IS 4.0 GB--SHOULD I ADD AND DOES IT HELP ?

If you are talking about adding RAM, what operating system is installed on your computer? I believe Windows XP cannot use more than 4 gigs.
I'm no computer expert, I'm sure others will chime in.

For 64bit Win7 or 64bit Win8.x 4GB is pretty much bare minimum and personally I would suggest 8GB unless the box is mainly for web surfing. Once you have enough memory for your needs then I lean toward upgrading the hard drive to an SSD. PICSIX makes a good point, keep in mind if it's a 32bit OS, it's pointless to have more than 4GB as the OS will only be able to address something like 3.25

More is more with a 64-bit OS.

Assuming a 64 bit OS (that you are supposed to use in 2014), you can not go wrong by adding more memory.. go for it
