What a great honor. That sounds like as good a job as being mayor of Detroit.

Maryland up next?

Hear that phone ringing? It's Rahm calling the Governor, and nobody answering.

Or being the president of the United States.

I'm not from IL and don't know anything about their history of governors. So I checked recent history, and for the last 45 years, a republican has been the governor of IL more often than a democrat. So why is this deserving of a holy moly?

So why is this deserving of a holy moly? Now a republican mayor of Chicago would actually be something to crow about. The last one was Big Bill Thompson in 1931. Thompson was a Capone stooge.

Where's the President from? Where was he a State Legislator? Senator?

Oh! So because the prez was a senator from IL the state can't elect a repub guv, even tho that's what they've had more often than not since the end of the 60s?

Oh, look what Arkansas did.. they went and elected a repub guv in 1996 even tho slick willy was in the WH. Holy moly again!

Where's the President from? Where was he a State Legislator? Senator? There is no short of republicans outside of the Chicago. Down state Illinois is heavily republican. Although Illinois tends to elect democrats to state wide offices, it is far from a given. We see how popular this governor is after he has been office for a while. He has inherited a mess.

Well, IL has had plenty of tax and spend governors like Ryan and Thompson, as well as Blago and Quinn, although Quinn was more closer to tax and spend, the rest were more like Spend and Spend. As well as most of the legislature, that I don't think has changed, and will need to if we're going to have any hope whatsoever in paying down out massive debts. And I don't see it that being done with more casinos, as the state has gone through several rounds of seemingly sweet deals to new casino operators at the expense of stabbing the ones they sold the prior casinos with the huge fees and big promises of revenue with 'little competition' only to see that competition keep growing and growing as the state continues to approve new ones. As for racing, they've kept telling Racing to wait until tomorrow which never seems to come, and to go pee in the corner of the round room they've put racing in. Now the Bandaid fix for racing won't work very well now that 8 or 9 others have been wearing and sharing that bandaid.

More important is the removal of those " who created the mess"!

Former Democratic governors of Illinois have a nasty habit of ending up in prison. Any rumors about Quinn?
