That's what our member Mark A. has to figure out after CRUSHING Friday's Breeders' Cup card for over $100,000, his biggest win in 25 years of playing the horses.

We picked EVERY winner in the 10-race card including 6 top pick winners (View Results (http://www.winningponies.com/results/2014-10-31/Santa-Anita.html)).

When luck just isn't enough...

Tell him to bet it all on Baltimore - 1.5 against the Steelers.

Congratulations! I'd pay off the mortgage on the farm, pay off all my credit cards, and take a trip to Australia with my bride of 49 years.

Was it too hard to bet a 50 cent part wheel and hit repeat 9 times? It didn't matter this time, but what if one more short price had won and the thing paid 4900 instead of 7700?

You won't believe this but we were just informed that Mark A. made another $350,000 killing on our picks in the BC Turf sprint. We will have the pictures of his winning tickets shortly.

We had the Exacta, Trifecta, and Superfecta (View Results (http://www.winningponies.com/results/2014-11-01/Santa-Anita/7.html)).

So what would you do with half a million?!

How do you make 350 on an individual race that's pretty hard to do.

Im with you. I call bullshit. 7-1 wins, chalk runs 2nd and another logical horse runs 3rd.
And lets not forget this dude is clearly playing with a huge bankroll. I wagered $400 yesterday and Im at $1400 today, and thats huge for me. He is punching $1400 tickets.

I would re-invest it, it seems so easy. The trip can wait.

The most amazing thing about these tickets is that the horse who finished 3rd was absolutely raging at the wire, one more millimeter he's 2nd. This guy won a lot of money on an amazing photo win, i thought the 11 got up while watching it live.

You are completely right about that. When I chatted with him, he said he was stressing about the photo but at the time he didn't realize it ended up being a $300g photo.

And what's even more amazing is that he ended up having 40% of the winning share of that Superfecta pool.

Possibly (probably) overbet the pool. Only put 600 into exactas in a 2M pool but stuck a 3k super ticket into a pool less than 1M.

Won a lot of his own money in that super. If he had the super for 10 and the exa for 1,000, might have made out better?

What's the super pay if he has it for 10 and not 25?

he takes down 20% of the pool instead of 40%. Which do you want?

ultracapper
11-03-2014, 07:15 PM
When you get into those kind of bets, you're looking at what portion of the pool you're taking rather than the per dollar return. There does come a time when the return becomes problematic, but he didn't come near it.

I did all the math and he makes out better by about 45,000 after taxes if he has the super for 10 instead of 25 and has the exacta for 1200 instead of 300.

If he takes the "saved' money on the supers and splits it up between the exa and tri, he might have made out the same or better.

its close.

I just think when you're investing that kind of money, you need to be a little better at not winning your own money. He got 9500 on his last dollar of the 25, but on the first dollar, (if he only had it for a buck) he would have gotten 15, 680 or something like that (using a 20% takeout, i dont know what the super takeout was for this bet).

He knocked his own price down by 135k, that's a large amount on the total ticket, might have been more efficient to sink most of the money into exas and tris and a smaller amt in the super.

I'll take your word for it. It's easier to see which is better after the tickets have been cashed however.

I think its simple math and you bet more into bigger pools. In the long run, that's the better strategy, you want to try and win as little of your own money as possible.
