So, I take two good friends to Club Med last night to enjoy
a light race card. This couple visited us in August , loved
Saratoga and actually won several races with us. We figured
we could repeat the fun at the Meadowlands last night, I therefore
made dinner reservations earler in the week for last night.
As the Meadowlands cancelled their card on Friday night, I start
calling the Horsemen's office, dining , and general information at 9am,
1pm, and at least 4 other times with on one answeign until 5pm when I spoke to a host in the in the dining are who confirmed there would be
live racing.
As my radar was on alert, I make various bets for the double and tri's in the early races.
My key horse in the 4th race is Hyman Roth, whose sire is
Street Boss, one of my favorites plays on turf.
We arrived the track at 6.15 , and I proceeded to play the pick 6.
Our waitress arrives at 6:30 to take our order, and at 6:50 we
are told the card was cancelled!
My friends wanted to stay and have dinner, I'm fuming, but what the hell,
I give in.
We get served at 9pm(no BS), the food sucks, and the bill is totally
f#$d up. A half hour later the host appears ,offers a 25% discount
due to the torture that has happened, and you guessed right, the bill
is again wrong!!!
Several points:
The new facility is sparkling, the attendants and hosts are friendly.
The question is why this card wasn't cancelled in the early afternoon???
In honor of those who suffered last night, I recommend Jeff Gural
rename 10/25 as HYMAN ROTH DAY and/or have a small stakes
race named the 4gedaboout stakes.
As I'm thinking, I parked in Valet, 5.00 charge.5.00 tip, and another
tip when I left. ugh....
