I dont normally look at the times posted in the charts. but there were several 7 furlong races run yesterday at keeneland and I was very surprised by the times posted. I wonder if they could possibly be accurate. the first surprise was that that a race for 10,000 claimers went almost 2 seconds faster than a race for 2 year msw which went in a very slow 1:27 and change. then the stake sprint race went in 1:21 and change which seemed incredibly fast compared to all the other 7 furlong races run that day. comments?

They run races at 7 furlongs and "about" 7 furlongs. The abt. 7 furlong races are approx. 200 feet longer. Keeneland has Trakus if you are interested.

The 3rd and 5th are Beard Course which is 7 furlongs 184 feet (back of the chute).

For a three week meet, why do they need two 7 furlong courses?

Keeneland is all about tradition and they have stakes races with history at both distances.

Be happy they call the races.

I don't listen - I don't play Kee.
