visited the race track and casino in Austintown, ohio on tue. nice place being new. reminded me of PID but a bit smaller upstairs. Paddock resembles PENN National. lots of room and many TV's down stairs with no steps going outside.
many betting terminals the ones like SA and PID. noticed not a lot of live teller areas. maybe 8 upstairs and 8-10 downstairs. smaller food ports both upstairs and down, but a nice large sports theme restaurant just like PID upstairs. also 100 racing days 4 days a week

We've had some nice crowds at the OTB upstairs at Mahoning Valley the first two weeks. People love the view of the track. Its really close to the building and built at an angle so you will be able to watch the horses coming down the stretch without having to see a direct head-on view. It has the look of a nice smaller OTB you'd see on the Strip in Vegas.

On the downside, lots of "two dollar bettors" has not helped the handle so far. Since I can't bet there, rumors of my impending firing abound, so I can then help with the handle increase.;)

i thought it was nice. what is the track going to do with all the room downstairs when the track does open? the area where the "queue rope offs" are now? that large back area going up once the races start

That will have tables for the patrons to watch and wager on the live races as well as simulcasting. It is now being used to sign up people for player rewards cards.

harmar is still around...the writing on the wall seems to say when the lease is up it goes away. Killing all the orbs is about the dumbest thing for the sport to generate new fans. Places were standing room only on derby day problem was management had the places on autopilot the other 364 days of the year

I used to always stop in on a sat to smoke a cigar and bet the different tracks on screen, now I stop in to deposit into xpress bet and look around and pretty somber, kind of shame
