Very nice OpClm featuring the return of Transparent, aka Romansh's stablemate.

:1: Good when he's good, and bad when he's bad. Hasn't ever been on the early lead but may be today with the inside draw; pace figs are among the best in here and Lezcano may go. Can be a factor if he feels like running today, and his company lines are 2nd to none.
:2: Solid NY bred steps out of company again today and gets top weight for his troubles. Looks just a bit overmatched vs this group...PASS
:3: Playable longshot? Another NY bred, has contending figs, but the lone work off a long layoff is not good. Late runner gets his pace, likes Bel, good enough to get a piece on his best day, but seems like an exotics player at best today.
:4: Another playable longshot? Yes, if Castro elects to take back a bit and make one run at them. Not quick enough early to stalk today's expected pace so he needs to come from midpack...has a real shot if things shake out right. Figs put him right there with the best in here, sharp works off Mth win, closed well behind slow pace in Prx Stks race...been very tough outside of Stks company this year. Navarro risked him for Clm50 and got away with it...who's paying that much for a 6yr old gelding? He's my boy at 8-1 or better.
:5: Yet another NY bred and the chief speed, but I will try to beat him too. He can hang his hat on a couple of nice performances, but still hasn't won outside of state breds, and some of these are just faster on speed figs with their best effort. Could not hold on at Sar after setting leisurely splits on a clear lead over an E biased track. Feel he gets dogged early and tires late. Underlaid ML of 5-2.
:6: Interesting horse has changed hands a lot and returns to a track he likes. Only race that scares these was right here on 24May. Draws Rosario and can be a menace, but I'm against him in the win hole...needs a lifetime best to win it.
:7: Forward runner is very consistent outside of GrStks company. Usually there for a piece but doesn't win much, race two back was excellent, but I'll give him one off the 7month layoff. Exotics only, ML 15-1 is nice.
:8: Just looks too slow, claimed from Jacobson, 0-8 on the year, moves way up in class...no thanks...PASS
:9: Here's your chalk. Ran some races last year that will win this, period, but returns from Dubai off an 8month layoff. Plenty of works showing for this, barn good off the shelf, gotta use him.

As of now the play is:
EX: 1-9 w 4
EX: 4 w 1-3-5-6-9
TRI: 9 w 4 w 1-3-5-6
WIN: 4

Good luck, who ya' got?

:7: Leah Gyarmati has been doing some good things with the Treadway horses (& btw, they paid $240K for this one). Midnight Taboo is now a mature 4yo; he could be anything coming off the 7m layoff, but he's likely to be a price. It's now a 7-horse field, so if the odds are >9 & <23, I'll bet :7: to win and underneath exactas w/ :5: & :9: .

Kind of race where nothing would surprise me; getting a vibe on the :3: as outrunning his long odds.

Forgot to mention, as regards POT's selection the :4: ...I'm glad to see Eddie Castro back in NY, if only for the day. EC always one of my favorites because you can usually get a price on his horse, and he'll often get it done.

Looks like the two main pace runners are out...will have to reassess my play.

The 8 (2nd @43-1) was claimed and "out of jail" and stepped up. As opposed to a claim and a mandatory step up in class. You always have to respect the former angle.

I respect that angle.
Did you bet Cease based on that angle?

In the end, I didn't get my price on the :4: and got lucky by not playing the race. He didn't perform well at all.

Another horse today, claimed, "out of jail", stepped up and wins. Bel R10 #6 Bigger Picture $16.00. This one I hesitated to bet because it was his first race vs older, and surface change. But I did.
