Hello everyone,
Please read carefully, as this poll is set up differently than the other contest polls.
By voting "Yes, ......" --> You plan to participant in this contest (if you qualify), and you acknowledge and agree to abide by all the contest rules listed below.
By voting "No, ......" --> You will NOT be participating in this contest. (Please do not select this option if you have less than 1000 PACS points, which can be verified here (http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1708782&postcount=3).
Post #2 in this thread (below) will show the progress of this poll so that potential participants can see whether or not they made entry into the contest.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to post them in this thread.
And now on to the rules.
1. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
-- Players ranked in the top 32 with regard to PACS (PaceAdvantage Contest Series) points automatically qualify for entry. Players who decline or are unable to participate will be replaced by the next highest available player outside the top 32.
-- All participants must acknowledge that they have read and agree to abide by all contest rules (by voting in the above poll) no later than 09/22/14. Failure to do so could put the player's participation at risk.
2. PLAYING BRACKETS
-- Subject brackets will be posted ASAP after finalization of the field of 32. and will be similar to those used in the yearly NCAA college basketball tournament.
3. MATCHES and SCHEDULE
-- In each round of play, participants shall compete in a head-to-head match consisting of a maximum of 5 games.
-- Games shall be played at a rate of 1 game per day, from Wednesday thru Sunday of that respective week.
-- The first player to win 3 games will move on to the next round, with his/her opponent being eliminated. Exception: Losers in the semi-final round will play in the next round for 3rd place.
-- Each GAME shall consist of 5 different thoroughbred races from a single track. (Both you and your opponent will be playing the same 5 races.). The winner of the game will be the player who achieves the highest ROI over those 5 races.
-- (New for 2014) ROI is defined as (Payout) divided by $500. Without exception and irregardless of any scratches, all players will have been deemed to have wagered $500 for each and every game. Scratches will receive a designed replacement. (See rule #7)
-- If at the end of a GAME both players achieve the exact same ROI, each player will credit for winning 1/2 game.
-- If at the end of a MATCH both players are tied at 2.5 games apiece, the player achieving the highest ROI over the ENTIRE match will be declared the winner and move on to the next round.
-- (New for 2014) No GAME shall be won/lost on less than 5 races. Should cancellations occur, players shall make up the lost races ASAP, with scores from non-cancelled races carrying forward. The Contest Manager can assist with help should this situation occur.
4. ESTABLISHMENT OF TRACK AND RACES TO BE PLAYED
-- The higher ranked player will be allowed to select the track and races to be played for games 1,3, and 5, and must post subject information in the designated thread no later than 7:00 p.m. Eastern time the night before the scheduled game. The lower ranked player will be responsible for doing so for games 2 and 4. Should a player miss their posting deadline, the first player to post after that time will set the track and races to be played.
-- Once posted, the track and list of races to be played can not be edited, except for the brief few minutes as permitted by the PaceAdvantage Forum application.
-- In addition to your public posting, it is recommended that the player setting the track and races to be played also advise their opponent of subject info via private message.
-- With one exception, only races with free Brisnet Past Performances can be chosen as contest races. The track/race selector must personally verify that subject race PPs are available on http://www.trks2day.com/trks2day.html. (New for 2014) By approval of the player not setting the track/races, a GAME can include races where free Brisnet PPs are not available. Acknowledgement must be made here and before the contest starts.
5. WAGERING AMOUNTS and TYPES
-- Players will be required to wager exactly $100 per contest race, and may do so using one or more of the following wagering types: Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta, Superfecta, Daily Double, Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5.
-- Should a player wager MORE than $100 in a given race, their selections will be reduced by one of the moderators in the usual manor for over-bets.
-- Should a player wager LESS than $100 in a given race, $100 will still be used for the purpose of calculating ROIs.
-- The minimum base wager amount for any selection is $1, and can be increased by $1 increments.
-- Although it should be obvious, horizontal wagers such as the Daily Double, Pick 3, etc. can only be made when subject races are designated by the player setting the track and races.
-- Wagers involving horizontal legs are applied entirely to the first race in that leg. (Example: A player wagers $20 in Daily Doubles involving races 1 and 2. The entire $20 wager amount would count toward the amount wagered in race 1.).
6. POSTING OF SELECTIONS
-- Game selections for all 5 races must be made in a single posting at least 1 minute prior to the race off time of the first contest race. Should a posting be late, any races that do not meet the 1 minute prior to race off time requirement will be counted as a loss of $100.
-- Selections are not allowed to include any alternate or conditional selections.
-- Once posted, selections can not be modified or changed, except for the brief few minutes "edits" are allowed by the PaceAdvantage Forum application. (Should you do so, remember that the timestamp of the "edited" post must also be at least one minute before your first contest race goes off.). Before "Submitting" a post, remember the "Preview Post" option is your friend. ;)
7. SCRATCHES
-- (New for 2014) Players must make sure that their selections do not contain any already-known scratches. If they do, any wagers they are a part of should be scored as losing ones. Should a scratch occur after the time a selection is posted, then subject scratch will receive a designed replacement. The first replacement to be used should be the Post Time Favorite, provided it produces a legal wager. If not, they go the 2nd favorite, 3rd favorite, etc., until a legal wager is made. When a replacement substitution is made, the base wager amount is never to be increased. The Contest Manager can assist you when this situation occurs. In addition, examples will be provided in a later post.
8. COUPLED ENTRIES
-- When a selection involves an entry, players will be required to take ALL parts of that entry. Players will not be allowed the option to choose only part of an entry. Should all parts of the entry be scratched, the involved selections will be treated as refunds, otherwise, the player will have action.
9. SELECTION FORMAT
-- In order to avoid possible confusion with any of your selections, it is highly recommended that you spell out things clearly and with little to no abbreviations. The following is a good model to follow:
FORMAT --> Track, Race#, Base Wager Amount, Selections, ($ Total)
Example 1: Penn National, Race#4, $50 Exacta Box 2,3 ($100 total)
Example 2: Penn National, Race#5, $40 Win/Place #1 ($80 total)
Race#5, $4 Exacta #1 with 2,4 ($8 total)
Race#5, $2 Trifecta Key #1 with 2,4 with 2,4,8,9 ($12 total)
Grand Total = $100
10. SCORING and REPORTING
-- All matches will be self-scored between the two competing players. Occasional assistance is available with a moderator.
-- Either player can report the results of a game/match, but responsibility lies with the winner.
-- This contest is different in that players are essentially responsible for making sure their matches are conducted in accordance with all applicable contest rules. Because of this, Moderators will only get involved to resolve disputes and/or help with scoring questions when requested to do so by one of the players.
-- Any disputes as to who the winner of a game is should be reported ASAP.
11. FORUM THREADS
-- To make for a smooth and trouble-free contest, please submit your postings under the specifically designated threads.
12. DECISIONS
-- The contest Administration shall have the final word regarding any matter.
-- Good sportsmanship is expected to rule the day.
