I know Vegas gets headliners, but these poor little casinos here in Louisiana can only book bands of yesteryear.
One casino (Cypress Bayou) is having an 80's Metal Throwback show with
Warrant, Winger, Dokken and Dee Snider (frontman of Twisted Sister).
Dokken - state of the art rokken!
Keith Sweat is appearing at another casino this month.
Boz Scaggs (Boz Scaggs!) is also going to be playing somewhere.

In the last few years I've seen concert ads for Lionel Richie, Michael McDonald, 38 Special and what's left of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Sad thing is that I would actually go see Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald :D

I'd probably go see Skaggs and McDonald, too. I've seen McDonald before -- he's incredibly talented. What a voice!

I just learned that Skaggs was born in Ohio. What did we do without Wikipedia? I never would have known he was a fellow Buckeye!

I think the name Boz came from an album he released in Sweden with that title (I think Boz means "boss" in Swedish).

Really like a song of his called High Sierra

I've been tempted to hit a show in Oklahoma a few times. The casinos have terrible ratings on google though.

I was intrigued by a double bill being advertised here locally.

Kenny Rogers and Ronnie Milsap on the same show.

Now that's classic country .......

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest albums of all time. Listenable from start to finish.

He was part of the late 60s San Francisco scene and can be seen in the movie Fillmore. Silk Degrees was a great album.

Agree on Silk Degrees. First rate from start to finish.

Do not attend any of California's Indian Casinos, but from time to time have casually noticed that a few pretty well known entertainers play their showrooms. Ticket prices usually not that steep, so if can find a date willing to make the often long drive, might do it. Best bet would be one with OTB. Go early and win enough to pay for the tckets and expenses. :liar: :D

If you are a Boz fan (to me, Silk Degrees is a classic), Michael McDonald, and/or Steely Dan fan, let your fingers do the walking on your keyboard over to YouTube and type " dukes of September " into the search box. You can also add on " dukes of September Lincoln center ".

You'll find HD full-length concerts in studio quality, plus other less professional, but still high quality, cuts. I figure about 20 or more.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they even tour in Texas on a regular basis any more. North of Dallas, right over the border into Oklahoma, is the WinStar casino, the world's largest casino. You'll find Steely Dan and a roster of great talent. BTW, the Lincoln Center HD concert is (or was) on PBS.org, too.

Plenty of Paul Rodgers and Brian May as Bad Company in HD on YouTube, as well. I believe Robert Cray is touring, too. Tom Petty is bringing his guys to Dallas, as well.

Casinos like the WinStar, especially in the Southeast, are almost like "If you can't go to Vegas, let Vegas come to you." Times are changing, but at least the music many of us loved in the 60's and 70's will live on in HD and fantastic sound quality for us to enjoy for years to come.

McDonald and Scaggs both also appear with Donald Fagen on a late 80s CD called "The New York Rock 'n' Soul Review" along with Phoebe Snow and the Brigati Brothers (from the Young Rascals). Excellent CD.

In Vegas the last few months. I priced VIP tickets. $900 a pop

Pass......I don't care if we get to Mingle with Meat for an hour before, snacks and front row seat.....$900 is too much

Hey JR, how many times have you been to the city of lost wages?

7-8 times. The military sent me there a couple of times in the 80's for training at Nellis AFB (M-60 Machine gun school)

The wife and I have dropped into town on short notice a few times. Also drove over a few times when we lived in Los Angeles.

I actually got diverted there on a flight once and ended up staying 3 days

Lita Ford will also be on the bill at that 80's Metal Up Yer Ass or whatever they call it show.
Jeffrey Osborne is also coming soon to a casino near you in Louisiana (can you woo woo woo?)
