NY Turf Writers - Gr1 Steeplechase at Sar

Always have a look at these races but rarely bet them.
I may take a shot today with :4: Staying On, who was left at the start in his last and will like the 2m3/8 distance (gee, who doesn't like 19 furlongs? :) ) He is 0-3 at Sar though and gets a class test.
ML of 12-1 and if that holds I will be making my first jumps play of the year.

Gotta use Makari, who was not a FTS when he won the AP Smithwick earlier this meet....BRIS does not have foreign jumps races in their pp's...he has started and won over the jumps before.

I know some of you have placed a casual action bet on these races, as I have, but today I have an actual opinion (a dangerous thing indeed).

Anyone else having a go at this one?

Jumping is a tough sell for the faint of heart or animal lover.

When a jump race is on tv i make sure my wife is not watching.

Terribly tragic . The 3 horse Makari is from Elizabeth Voss' barn
that she took over since her Dad passed .
The race was to be run today in his ,Thomas Voss' honor .

Very tough day for all involved . RIP Makari !

I am not any kind of activist, but I have no idea why they are still allowed to run these in this day and age. The jumps do not look fluid at all with half the horses looking like they are hesitating.

Perhaps I am just on edge..watched a work the other morning where a horses went straight on the turn and flipped the rail. Deadly result for the horse and the jock didn't move before being vanned off.

Sometimes wonder why I like this game..

Champion Divine Fortune fell at the same final jump today that Makari did last year.

Divine Fortune fractured her shoulder, and had to be euthanized. :(
