WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – President Barack Obama will not dump a bucket of ice water over his head for the increasingly viral video Ice Bucket Challenge. Instead, Obama has opted to donate $100 to the charity fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Chicken! Even 86 year old Ethel Kennedy did it.

I wouldn't give a dime to a charity who's CEO & president makes 297K a year off the proceeds...one PREVIOUSLY worked for Red Cross who's now counterpart makes 600K+....she learned from the best...

Meanwhile the CEO & Pres. of Salvation Army makes 50K or less...many top charity's CEO make nothing...

am siding w/Prez. on THIS anyways...

if you are going to donate where it does the most good, then donate to your local hospital's general relief fund or homeless shelter. Dollar goes farther.

I agree with the Pres. on this one. Certain activities are undignified for a man of his stature like appearing on the Letterman show, The View, The Daily Show, the Today show, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Oops wait a sec, he did that. Never mind !

 Good post. I agree.

He can't really win on this one.
By doing it, he would look very unpresidential, again.
If he doesn't do it, another faction will see him as a spoil sport.

Now here's something I agree with him 100% on. I don't understand these internet fad fetishes whatsoever and the fact that voyeurs enjoy viewing it is even stranger.

$481,098 - this the Presidents 2014 salary. He donated $100. This is a contribution of.0002078. A philanthropic giant walks among us.

I have decided to top his donation . I will write a check today for .0003078 of this years projected income.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/08/01/russian-official-burns-obama-with-putin-leopard-pic/So that's a "sissy bomb", huh? The dog Obama is holding in that picture is an abused, three-legged dog that had been saved from a puppy mill, and that appeared on the cover of American Dog magazine as part of a story..

Context.

I just hope the leopard didn't eat the dog for lunch because Putin always eats Obama's lunch. ;)

I love context. Did he adopt the dog?No, here's some details on the dog in that picture:

Baby, who was rescued from a puppy-mill after nine years of confinement in a cage, cannot bark because her vocal chords were cut and also lost a limb due to maltreatment. Since being rescued and subsequently adopted by Dr. Kohl, Baby spends her time advocating for other abused dogs and animals. Baby’s plight also inspired a Congressional bill that would end the inhumane practice of lifetime confinement of breeding dogs. “Baby’s Bill” was proposed by bipartisan members of the House and Senate and will be voted upon in the next Congressional session

I am waiting for Sarah Palin. Hoping she is wearing a T-shirt when it happens. Yes I know I am a dirty old man beside being a democrat.

CNBC is even more unwatchable than usual because of this nonsense. I want to propose a Roshambo challenge to raise cancer awareness.

Let me know if you want to go first. I'll donate $100 to the cancer charity of your choice afterwards.

Presidents have to release their tax return info. Pretty sure that he and other presidents before him are pretty generous with charitable contributions. Just $100 to this one but probably lots spread around to others. We will have to wait until next year to know for sure.

What fantastic liberal sentiment you are displaying Curtis...telling rich folk how much they should give and how to spend their money.
You are rich Mr President - you should give more

I mentioned this at times in the past but the vulgar Bill Clinton donated his stinky, soiled underwear, tire threads included, I am sure, to charity.

Of course, this slob took a tax deduction for his 'pretty generous' donation.
