The :1: Ontology is a horse I have followed since he started racing in 2013 ....out of Tapit and a nice mare...stakes placed, earned over $100,000 and has faced some of the better three year-olds on the SoCal circuit...probably pushed too hard by his owner Paul Reddam but he likes to see his stock racing...been off since January and now dropped into a $20,000 claimer with no published workouts...class of the field but why drop and lose a horse like that unless he's unsound and done as a racehorse?

You don't get many bargains at the racetrack. Often this kind is not claimed at all or taken by a poor trainer. I am going against him aggressively (well, not too aggressively) with Local One Thirty. Best of luck!

TVGFAN,

Thanks for the workouts...for some reason equibase doesn't show any...works don't look great with the exception of the last.... maybe hoping someone will see it and claim him

This is where announcing claims could come in handy for bettors. If this horse has 0 claims or 25 claims, that matters. Its info that would be a factor as to the current state of this animal.

Personally, i wouldn't take a short price on a horse like this.

The :1: was vanned off after the DQ win, so he may not have been sound after all...

Ontology was claimed from race 1.
The claim was honored, even though he was vanned off.
Trainer Kristin Muhlhall agreed to check the waiver box on the claim meaning she will take the horse regardless of its condition.

I knew something wasn't right about this...from the looks of it...Reddam and Callaghan ran an unsound horse and worked him hard prior to the race to get him claimed...made over $150,000.00 for the owners after the claim and he and Callaghan should be ashamed....lost a lot of respect for a trainer who I thought handled his horses well...and the fact that Mullhall claimed "as is" shows that someone knew the horse wasn't right...still, showed a lot of heart in the lane even though the DQ was 50/50 in my opinion
