Maliki, denied reappointment as Prime Minister, is reported to have called out the army to surround the Green Zone and close the airport.

Story (http://hotair.com/archives/2014/08/10/coup-underway-in-iraq/)

Iraq’s parliament just chose a new President who refused to rename Prime Minister Nouri Kamal al-Maliki to a third term. Maliki declared the move unconstitutional and his own State of Law Party pulled support from him. Now his forces are seizing government buildings in Iraq, have closed the airport, and are surrounding the Green Zone.

I spoke to my friend Ronda this evening and her husband Matt is a security guy in Iraq for a private concern. He was to leave Iraq yesterday for his 30 day R&R but there are no flights out of Iraq. he is on standby. She said they may move him to another country for a flight home.

I would think that a one way ticket out would be adequate. ;)
