It doesn't make much sense to have 2 tracks located so close together. The casino is already at Aqueduct and the casino operators probably have a list a mile long of better economic uses of that land than a racetrack - even assuming Aqueduct is profitable for NYRA. So closing Aqueduct makes economic sense. However, if Aqueduct is closed, the issue is what to do about winter racing. There is also going to be a long list of people that do not want to end winter racing, especially if it's profitable. Winterizing Belmont and keeping Aqueduct as a main simulcast center for off track betting makes the most intuitive sense to me. The city still needs some brick and mortar betting locations anyway. NYRA has to try to recapture some of that lost handle from NYCOTB closing. But I guess it depends on the winterizing costs and the resources NYRA will have after closing the Big A.

The west coast parasites are a healthier bunch. They don't ooze!
