We're getting an active cell over central San Diego with light rain and thunder. So far, no ground strikes.

Having looked at the NOAA site, I see a larger cell over the northern Baja area and it appears to be drifting towards southern San Diego county.

Del Mar could be in for some unusual summer weather.

Good luck, all, I'm over and out -- an the PC's/electronics are likely going to be unplugged shortly -- just saw a flash and heard the thunder likely at the Marine Air Station at Miramar.

VENICE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Eight patients were hospitalized after being struck by lightning at Venice Beach on Sunday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. Two of the eight patients were transported in "extremely critical condition".

The strike happened in the 3500 block of Ocean Front Walk around 2:30 p.m. Thirteen people, including a 15-year-old, were evaluated at the scene, and at least one person required CPR, city fire spokeswoman Katherine Main said.
