I am not a advocate of tournaments, but I can see how this idea can make some waves. What I believe is wrong, is its money structure.

Why not put all $40 in the same pool, charge very little juice (like 5%) and make it available through the Internet?

In my opinion, something like this is way better than horizontal gimmicks but still needs some changes, like guaranteed minimum pools and add on bonuses

They've done two of these now, you don't like tournaments, but still you are posting here to criticize? Do you realize this is the first time that they are even able to run a live money tournament? I swear people complain about the silliest things.

I think this is a fantastic idea. It get people to the track that may take the day to do something else.
Plus, there is a shot at taking down some decent coin for relatively small stake.
I were going to be there, you're damned skippy I'd get into the thing

If that is bitching, I guess no one is entitled to an opinion.
I thought he made a very valid suggestion.
but I can see how this idea can make some waves.
= bitching?

MOST of NYRA's customer do not go to the track, so why totally leave them out of this?

True..But the idea of having it on track is to get people to come to the track.
At least that's my take on this.
I am seeing the harm in this.

Does anyone know exactly where in the grandstand you sign up for this? And what time?

I entered this contest when it originated at belmont park, it was a lot of fun.
I was hoping that NYRA would also allow the players at their 2 simulcasting tracks (Aqueduct/Belmont) to have the opportunity to enter. I conveyed this idea to the 2 young ladies that were registering entrants and they stated they would speak to their immediate supervisor.

Absolutely, more contestants more money in the pool. There may be some restrictions that we don't know about but if you're a player and not just a watcher it makes sense. Yes, Delta Lover is here to complain. He posts a million freakin posts based on fact, does the math, answers any question, tries to provide an open source library and he's here to complain. Thank you very much for that insight.

Like Raybo, I'll have to pick up a Greek to English dictionary for Delta's math.

This is probably a good idea.. It might also help you to improve to other areas apart from horse racing.. A good selection is the following:

The last winner walked away with a $490 grand prize on a $40 investment? That doesn't sound like much of a "wave" to me. A little droplet, maybe...

An idea like this carries vast potential...but vision is required in order to properly implement it.

Guy says, and I quote, "I am not an advocate of tournaments" and then proceeds to say how it should be run. No knowledge of the laws in NY and how long several people have worked to get a live money tournament. They haven't even had a chance to evaluate how well this is working as it has only been run twice and the first one had to be set up last minute, though initial responses are very positive. But to show you what a helpful guy I am, why don't you all pose a set of questions and I'll show them to the guy who runs this thing. Maybe you can make a positive impact and also learn a little about what it takes to put stuff like this together.

Forgot half the quote - the half that was the basis of the post.
but I can see how this idea can make some waves.
It was not a whine, but a positive, with a suggestion.

I have no questions. I understand things do not always work out in reality like you planned them.

The new Insider show is proof of that!

You pay $40 and they give you a NYRA card which you use in any machine. You don't have to make all of the five $2 wps bets at once, but I did anyway. There's a board here where you can see where you are in the standings.
