Cancelling show betting for a stinky ill bred 2 year old in an 8 horse field who was coming off a win in 200.2

Good job guys.

Don't follow harness... did he/she hit the board?

There were 2 races with no show wagering at Monticello today. Races 6 & 8 and both were won by longshots.

Does this answer your question?

It kind of does. Shows the chalks weren't as invincible as the track thought they were. On a kind of separate note, did either chalk run in the money?

In the 6th race the 5 cent favorite made a break and finished out of money and in the 8th the 10 cent favorite came 2nd by 11 lengths to pay $2.50 for place.

And in the 8th, that favorite made a break and needed a miracle comeback to hit the board....another contender broke turning for home and probably opened the door for this recovering breaker to hit the board.

The best colt in the division (possibly) was in the first race of the day, and there was show wagering on him, but a 2 minute pacer sired by a "2nd tier" sire had show wagering barred in an 8 horse field while the "monster" in the first race had show betting vs only 6 rivals.

If someone wants to make a large show bet on a 2 year old with modest talent at best why not let them?
