I have a hard time with situations like yesterday's feature race at SAR.

Courageous Julie gets scratched for wagering purposes,
yet is deemed fit to run in the race. How so?

NYRA seems to be the only jurisdiction where this happens.
It's a good thing to protect the bettors, but there are a
couple of situations that can occur where it just isn't right.

Firstly, if the horse runs well enough to win, or hit the board.
Bettors cry foul.

Secondly, if the horse sustains an injury, or worse, by taking part.
No need for further explanation there.

Just scratch the horse.
Period.

Since when did Bettors "crying foul" matter to anyone who runs a racetrack?

Can't argue with that

Btw, I added some tweets to the other thread sent at the time from
Bruno De Julio, who was in the paddock.

The filly was clearly upset before the shoe problem came up.

Yes, i always love seeing a horse upset and not being able to bet against it.
