Worse, Don Zimmer? Come on! Gwynn is one of the greatest hitters ever....and you didn't even know Zimmer's name.

Why would MLB celebrate a guy who played in the NFL for three seasons in the 70's?

Zimmer "Popeye" loved the ponies too. Brought Joe Torre into racing.

Fun guy to have in baseball. Was in the majors in some capacity either playing, managing or coaching for around 50 years.
Agree he should have been recognized along especially with Gwynn.

Yeah, I read a reply from Fox Sports about the omission, that there were 7 notable deaths in the baseball community within the past year. Quite a few to mention if they did. I'm not sure that they forgot TG & DZ or the others, and if it was too many, or it just come across theirs and/or MLB's minds this time.

The Oscar Awards show always recognizes the ones lost in the last year, and they have a longer list than baseball. It could have been done.
