9th@Mountaineer: 5F Clm5000N2L ~ purse $8,400 ~ 7/15/14
(Non-winners of two races lifetime)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Two Entries before scratches muddle up early pace scenario, as
three of the four want the lead. Lone class dropper dismissed at
10/1 ML. Lone JBM is P.O.E.(part-of-entry),& draws outside slot.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Alluring Devil (6/5 ML, P.O.E.)- 4YO missed by a head last pair,
& 5/1 both times,but is now 0/10 locally. Should clear #'s 3-4-5 early.
3) Oromocto (8/1)- A 3YO private purchase from a winning barn
seldom is a winning angle. Local debut for Low % Trainer+rider.
4) Touchnluck (30/1)- Filled SH5 in 2014 debut,with no luck since.
5) Horse Harlan (7/2)- 220Yard cutback for 5YO that should get
ideal setup if field stays intact. Love horse, but expect 2/1 posttime.
6) Gotagetsocial (5/1)- Trainer Sanders asst.for Morales, so ignore
switch. Disappointed two back, positive rider change. Speed-of-Speed?
2) Hitthejackpot (6/1,P.O.E.)- The 'closer' half of entry, 4YO
WV-Bred won @4.5F,gets good setup & rider, but Beyers light for level.
7) Williamthewarrior (10/1)- Lone dropper returns to level of claim
when routing here. ML + Pace setup entice; Trainer,Rider, not so much.
8) Flankersberg (15/1)- 4YO was 97/1 off private purchase, filled
super w/good longshot rider. Similar result likely BCS tonight.
2B) Alleyjabber (6/1, P.O.E.)- 4YO gets 330Yard cutback & shows
pair of 4F Woodbine works for return w/aggressive rider. Ready-2-Roll?
1A) Ontheotherhand (6/5, P.O.E.)- 4YO JBM cruised from similar
outside post in last. Both halves of entry cross-entered tomorrow,
so likely one of the pair will remain in barn. Draws better than mate IMO.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: Both entries should get a lot of action. Watch scratch
board to see how many get in the gate.
Assuming most speed runners stay, i like #5-Horse Harlan a LOT here,
thinking one furlong cutback shouldn't be a problem with pace signed on.
Among speed horses, #6-Igotagetsocial intrigues on rider switch + ML.
Only other i might include in P4/P5 is price #7-Williamthewarrior as lone
class dropper, but being taken off Lasix two back seems odd move by a
trainer that's won just 6/240 (2.5%) since 2011.
#3&8 could add some value to any of your Tri/Super/SH5 wagers,
but i can't endorse #4, other than as a suck-up SH5 filler.
Good Luck to ALL, & SEE YOU at Night School!

8th@Mountaineer: 5.5F OC 20k/N2X ~ purse $25,300 ~ 7/15/14
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
(3-pronged condition race,in which 'A&B' horses are protected from claim.)
A) Non-Winners of Three lifetime;
B) Non-Winners of Two races,other than Maiden,Claiming,or Starter;
C) Any number of wins, with a claiming price of $20,000 (#'s 5&6)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Clever Performance (3/1 ML)- 6YO goes for ThreePeat, is 11/12
in the exacta locally, & can stalk or press pace. Won't get 3/1 at post.
2) Judge Carr (7/2)- 4YO makes local debut for Lethal connections.
Improving stalker faces three proven vets, but gets nice pace setup.
3) Atlantic Bull (2/1 ML Fave)- Extremely well-bred 6YO goes 3rd
off one year layoff.Catches fast dirt 1st time 2014.Won't get lead w/#6 in.
4) Stunt Double (10/1)- Speedy Lone 3YO in deep water from pace
& class angles. Gets cooked here. Tab for N3L allowance down the road.
5) Itshoweeroll (6/1)- 6YO "Verrry Interesting" form the same pace
& class angles hurting Stunt. Proven at Level, Tapeta-2-Dirt. I'm Rollin'!
6) Cape Finisterre (4/1)- Fffast 7YO will be last in +1st out of gate.
Cuts back 110Y.if speed holds in 4th,consider in P4/5 as speed-of-speed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: No knocks on any runner in field, i'll be searching for a bit
of value in an evenly-matched bunch. #'s 1-3-6 will likely garner most
of coverage in Horizontal Wagers. While all could prevail, i'm going Two
Deep in P4/P5 (maybe add #6 if 4th race goes Wire-2-Wire).
I'll use Stalker/Closer #2-JudgeCarr & #5-Itzhoweeroll to class up
vs. Clever Performance & Atlantic Bull,& hope someone can keep Cape
company by the quarter pole. Good Luck to ALL, see You @NightSchool!

Wow, that was VERY disappointing. Was alive to the 5 in the finale with good PPs, mid 40s Beyers and he was never put into the race, never ran a step, was creamed by the 8 horse who had 9 lifetime starts and never ran faster than a 34 Beyer.

Also, the 8 got a "negative" trainer change 2 back, i'm not sure how you can figure the 8 would beat the 5 to the wire, but it wasn't even close.

Rough game.
