Saw this today. I would be surprised if it works. Not sure I understand the math. Is the effective takeout 50% for a quick pick on a randomly selected race? Not sure my math is correct. Obviously this will not be an option that horse players will use. I am not sure anybody would either.

An interesting attempt to broaden attention to the game.

So the vig is the same as almost the normal lotteery effectively?

Edit-Nevermind, I think I read it wrong. So $1 is being treated exactly the same as any money bet into that pool normally. The other $1 is having the lotto company taking a cut with a seperate lotto pool still.

I mean, lotto players already accept a huge vig in the hopes of one massive payoff. This vig will still be bad though.

I've posted about this before. Back in the day the illegal "number" was derived from race results...the numbers and a payout. Everyone knew the "formula" and the numbers were sold at every corner store in every middle class or below neighborhood in NYC and Boston. Lets just say it was "organized" by guys that liked to make money. I think racing missed the boat on this in NY state. They will never let anything compete with their "dollar and a dream".....:) "you never know"....is another plug...yes I do...never happen here that's their monopoly. They'll even put the hammer to anyone else that attempts this sort of behavior.......:p Only hardened horse players or gamblers care about take out. Most of the public just looks at the winning pay out and "fun factor". That's why the slots are so popular. Personally they bore the crap out of me plus I have a condition where the lights and sounds affect me...but others love that crap..and the numbers and.....the scratchies. Most never win but they love it anyway.
