These are both G1 races. Did they rename them or are these new races with Graded status? I don't remember either.

I think they are the Garden City and the Jamaica (moved from the fall schedule).

Correct... And another monster card in NY.

Thanks fellas, I forgot about the big boost in the purses this year which had me puzzled.

They aren't just renamed versions of the Jamaica and Garden City. The distances have been lengthened to 10f, they are invitational events and are open to Aussie/Kiwi/S. African 3YOs (born on or after August 1, 2010).

The only Gr1 winner in the Derby won on Poly, not turf. New ditance, new purse, new slot ont hecalendar, but keep the name so it keeps it's grade.
Nice.

They should have moved them to the last Friday and Saturday in April IMO.

Anyone know if they will move the rail for Saturday, after they have been running on the Yielding Turf today?

This Belmont meet has been sensational. Tomorrows card is yet another example. We always bitch about what is wrong with racing, once in awhile we should acknowledge when it's done right.

It would be great to see Gai Waterhouse win the Bel Dby with Pornichet.
I think she finally won the Melbourne Cup last year...great lady, great for racing.

Bel Derby looks chalky and I will pass, but I am taking a longshot in the Bel Oaks with the :10: Recepta

I hope Andy and Mike, both, had Shug's, flying up the rail, $49 bullet, Mr Speaker! And Chad's, Zivo and Lezcano, again, up the rail big price of $29.40.

So much for chalk in the debuting Belmont Derby and the Suburban.

Love NY racing!!!

Sea Queen looked very comfortable out there...she's one to watch, imo..

Burnsy felt the "double burn" on these two races. My best bet of the day was Adelaide.......Who woulda thought Shug going long on the grass (Mr. Speaker).......49 dollars????? Big mistake, cost me hard because I thought about boxing that number. :bang: Then I liked Sea Queen and Chad Brown bites me in the ass.........Minorette, who I really didn't like. Tough day as Shug and the Phipps pull another one off. at what????..........49 bucks......:bang:
