9th@Mountaineer~ 6F Clm5000N1Y ~ purse $8,700 ~ 7/1/14
(Non-winners of a race in 12 months)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to "The Bottom", the lowest time-restriction race Mountaineer
cards. When the 5/2ml fave is a 10YO whose last win was 26 mo.ago,
you've got an interesting handicapping puzzle to solve. This race was
originally drawn last Tuesday, when the track lights went out early.
Three new faces in field dramatically change outlook, as one should be
speed of field, one adds BugGirl(likely pushing early),& one class dropper.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Justifier (10/1ML)- Last Win 5/12/12.Good 'under' longshot jock.
2) Personal Good (10/1)- Top Career$ Earner, last Won Halloween
2012. Longshot rider tries again, but note local mark, 12starts:0w/0p/0s
3) Speedy Graham (20/1)- 7YO had an excuse in last, but is N3L
eligible & is 0/14 locally. Last Win 5/28/12 via DQ.
4) Wickliffe Man (8/1)- Turf-2-dirt + class drop for WV-Bred
catching soft field. Last 4 wins going 2-3 turns@CT. Race two back OK.
5) No Paparazzi (6/1)- N4L eligible, 7lb.apprentice named to ride,
& lost early Zip lately. A solid 'under' key in verticals. Last Win 3/29/13.
6) Mr.Green (5/1)- Lone Speed~Last Week.ML juicy, but B4 you
bet the rent, note 7YO bled thru Lasix 2 back. Last Win 12/28/12@TBay.
7) Fuhrlang (8/1)- Last Win 9/25/12 vs.N3L foes.Could fill Tri/Super.
8) Act Of Defiance (8/1)- Likely speed going 110Y longer, caught
Mud two & three back vs.better. If speed holding early in card, BEWARE!
9) Texas Holladay (5/2 ML fave)- All value-oriented bettors will be
trying to beat a runner that last won 39 Starts Ago(!),& has been stuck
at this condition for a loooong time. WV-Bred will stalk,& try to pounce.
10) Mark Jumps (6/1)- Last week was lone class dropper+drew rail.
Cutting back 440Y with one slow 3F work in 86 days, but gets a better
pace setup with #'s 5&8 added to lineup. Good spot to run'em down!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: ML Fave, Texas Holladay?
as Tony Cheeseburger would say,
"The Four horse is a Joke, Trotter!
They put little kids on the Four horse to get their picture taken!"

x5GVfNcivS8

Now that my disparagement will likely put Texas in the Winners Circle,
look at Class-dropper Mark Jumps, cutting back off break with solid jock.
Lack of pace may hurt Mark, but ML entices in Horizontal bets.
Mr.Green has a jockey great at nursing speed, but Act of Defiance guns
early, it may force Mr.Green & No Papa into stalk mode w/Texas Holladay.
Wickliffe Man fits OK on drop, but may prefer route & state-bred foes.
I'll lean on 6/10 in My P4/P5, & maybe add #8 if speed bias shows up.
Good Luck to ALL, & see you at Night School!

8th@Mountaineer: 5F F&M Clm5000N2Y ~ purse $9,000 ~ 7/1/14
(Non-winners of Two races in 12-months)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Three potential speeds, one off extended layoff, could set up a closer.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Starship Quality (8/1 ML)- Jockey Stokes can read the PP's.
While Starship could gun from rail to try & get position into turn, there's
likely to be a mad scrum for early control. Stalks from tough post?
2) Miss Guchi (20/1)- Guchi has been counterfeit since leaving
the John Baird barn. Toss with confidence.
3) Manatee Divers (5/1)- 220Y cutback may help 4YO who has
run well at this distance. Trainer having career year. Tough pace setup.
4) Under The Rim (3/1)- May 12th effort here vs.tougher N3Y,
combined with tonight's pace flow makes UTR the one to beat IMO.
5) Princess Nayiri (7/2)- 4YO returns, eligible N4L,& hopes that
7YO next door doesn't fire best shot off layoff. Speed bias would help.
6) Indian Sky (8/5 ML Fave)- 240-day layoff & ONE listed work.
Blitzed field off long layoff last year, but vs. easier N1-12mo.foes.
7) Burning Armor (15/1)- Not sure 5F far enough for closer. Left
Mike Baird barn, see #2 for Baird Family runners leaving. Gets pace.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: If Indian Sky gets loose on EZ lead, game could be over
even off 8-month layoff. I'm gambling someone can make life tough
on Sky early. #'s 3&5 (as 4YO's) could improve & gun, setting up closer.
While Starship Captain is big ML price, Rex may have to go early,
mitigating close. Under The Rim gets patient rider, has stalking gear,
& while 3/1ML not Boffo value, i'm going to SINGLE in my P-4/P-5.
Good Luck to ALL, & see you at Night School!
