I knew the Gural/Sears situation would be settled quickly. Despite the egos etc both men are very smart. They both realize each others value to Harness Racing.
I would like to commend both of them for making a move that helps harness racing in general. My respect for both of them has gone way up!!!

the way gural threatened to "bring it all out in court" was a sleezball move that showed me all I needed to know (if I had any doubts in the first place)

has the "ill take my bat and ball and go home" attitude ready at a moments notice too....

for who he is and what he has he sure cries a lot.

I believe the harsh reality is setting in that he's not getting a casino.

May be true, but one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Revel about to close for good cause they can't keep up with out of state. NJ in massive debt for years, but no one has the balls to change a thing...What gives!

The NJ casinos in AC have been badly managed for years. I have no sympathy for any of them if they go bankrupt.
It's a shame NJ in so deep in debt but the casinos have made it worse.

AC is a lost cause but there's too much money invested down there to just fold up the tent.

viva AC...no place else has an ocean just outside of their casino. PA casinos are weak on the comps...not to mention ny.

AC is in "full court press" mode at the moment. get down and enjoy it

If the casinos in A.C. can't make, what makes anyone think that one at the Meadowlands will work?

Better proximity to a very large population to draw from....

I used to live in NJ, and for many many years, and it was quite a trek to AC from N Central and Central Jersey....

So, if there was a casino located closer it would've been a no brainer for me....

AC is an abomination once out of the Casino area....Where it once was a great destination for vacations and such and was a busy beehive in the Summers that I remember...

I was at Resorts Intl in 1979 when they first opened. It all went downhill from there.
Sure the ocean and closeness to NYC and Phila should have done a lot but the AC casinos ****ed it all up.
I know I watched it happen. By the way I have almost 20yrs experience in casinos Poker floorman etc so I know the business.

I really love this chart. The temp casino at the Meadows opened in 2006 and remained the casino until 2009. It was the summer of 2007 that most of the tracks in PA that were operating had some type of slot games going. I would have to say that it was mostly PA slots that took away the game at AC.

Correct......the pa slots was the final nail for ac

Yeah, NYC to AC is a three hour journey, but Philly is only about an hour. So, you could head over to AC from Philly after work for a few hours.

Back when I used to occasionally head down to AC, it seemed like everyone was from Philly.

I always thought AC was vunerable: bad neighborhood, crappy beach and boardwalk.

According to nj.com, the Showboat Casino will be closed Aug 31st.
Workers will be notified on Monday 6/30.
The Revel's owners state that casino will close if a buyer is not found.
AC is over.
Time for powerful South Jersey politicians to let go of their silly parochial ideas and permit a casino in the Meadowlands.

Yer kidding....there are 20 million people living within a 60 minute drive of the Meadowlands. Not to mention the nation's largest city within eyeshot of the place. Mass transit makes it very easy to go to Meadowlands.
Are you just one of these naysayers that opposes everything?
Look, AC is getting killed by PA DE casinos. Once casino gambling became a reality, Ac lost all of the play from Eastern PA, Delaware and Maryland.
AC is also getting nailed by a perception that the city is not a reasonably safe place to visit. Casino customers have been robbed and car jacked. At least one of those incidents occurred in a casino parking deck.
Now if the casinos cannot protect their customers on the casino property, why would anyone want to go there?

Forget weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day, The shore traffic on the Parkway is horrible.
I am with you. Had there been a casino at Meadowlands, I would have never gone to AC.

Give a few examples of how things in AC were more or less sent down hill.
I will tell you this. When I first stated going to AC in the early 80's, I went to Resorts. I found the place to be in rough shape, The carpet was dirty.
The Blackjack table I played on was dirty. We left and went to Caesar's which seemed to be nicer. Never went back to Resorts
