The Internal Revenue Service is about to get slapped with a harsh payback for messing around with conservative groups, blowing wads of tax dollars on employee conferences and helping implement Obamacare.

The House Appropriations Committee is set to OK an IRS budget of $10.9 billion, $1.5 billion under President Obama's request for fiscal year 2015, reducing the agency's budget to 2008 levels.

Details of the bill in the article.

The power of the purse is part and parcel to the design of our government. At least until we have a dictator.

But clearly the IRS needs more money to buy some decent computers that won't keep crashing and losing all their emails.

Clear after the Virginia house primary, the IRS needs to start looking at how the national tea party groups are actually spending their money and whether they should keep their non profit status when they are not helping tea party candidates like they are claim they are doing. I hate scam artists whether they are liberal or conservative.

What has that got to do with this thread?

Nothing.

They should refuse to fund the IRS until they find the emails

Furloughs! Great idea!

It'll boost the economy all of the additional people traveling on vacation.

Brilliant!

The national tea party groups spent just about zero in the Virginia primary because they did not endorse Brat as an "official" tea party candidate. How is that a scam?

You seem confused by the outcome of the Cantor election. Let me explain why Cantor lost by making a statement of fact:

On election day, Cantor spent the morning holding a fundraising meeting with lobbyists at a Starbucks in DC.

Add in aloofness, arrogance and an aversion to retail politics and you have a loser.

Get it? There's no great overarching Tea Party takeaways from that election. None. Those who think otherwise are headline readers.

Like many in the leadership in the House, and a majority of those in the Senate, they forget that they are there to represent their constituents, and start to consider themselves as part of the federal government.

And move their lips when they do.

What a terrible idea.
The House Appropriations Committee is set to OK an IRS budget of $10.9 billion, $1.5 billion under President Obama's request for fiscal year 2015, reducing the agency's budget to 2008 levels.
If you take away the power of the IRS to enforce the tax laws by reducing its funding, you encourage all sorts of cheating and non payment of legitimate taxes.

- A prohibition on a proposed regulation related to political activities and the tax-exempt status of 501(c)(4) organizations. The proposed regulation could jeopardize the tax-exempt status of many non-profit organizations and inhibit citizens from exercising their right to freedom of speech, simply because they may be involved in political activity.
This turns the whole idea of non profits on its head. By its very nature, an organization which engages in political activity should not be considered non profit. The original statue-which is still in effect-states that any organization which engages in any sort of political activity is ineligible for non profit status.
For some reason, the IRS years ago decided that this meant that any organization which spent less than a certain percentage of its budget on political activities was still considered a non profit.

If there have been cases where the IRS has inappropriately targeted groups-a dubious assumption at best-the solution is not to prohibit them from making such investigations. The solution is to make certain the investigations are undertaken properly.

ObamaCare –The bill also includes provisions to stop the IRS from further implementing ObamaCare, including a prohibition on any transfers of funding from the Department of Health and Human Services to the IRS for ObamaCare uses, and a prohibition on funding for the IRS to implement an individual insurance mandate on the American people.
What is this? Attempt number 5,287 to repeal, defund or otherwise impair Obamacare? Give it up already! You're embarrassing yourselves. Obamacare is here to stay. It's working. The sky is not falling.
