All-G1 Belmont P4

So the all-G1 Belmont pick 4 today (races 8-12, $2.8 million pool) for 50 cents paid $425.25. To me this felt like a slight underpay in a relatively hard sequence, so I calculated the 50 cent parlay which came to ~$450(4.8-1, 1.35-1, 5.5-1, 9.2-1). I'm just curious as to is this the result of the takeout? Or is it simply a case of the horizontal players handicapping better? Or is this just the norm? I'm just a little confused as I feel the allure of the horizontal bets is getting better value than the parlay by itself.

I had 1.50 worth. Just wish I had used the 8 on my pic 6 too in the 10th. Tonalist getting up in the final jump was great for me. Didnt have the exacta but seemed kinda small for what happened in a field that size

I had 5/6 too and was a little disappointed in the payout
