last night i noticed when i booted up the chrome browser, the address bar had additional letters/symbols after the name:
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl
Removed Hit-Man Alert, still there. any ideas?
(On Freakin' Belmont Day, no less!)

Google is merely redirecting to the "https" (SSL) version of their page. "Https" is more secure than unprotected "http."

I think that the "gws_rd=ssl" part means "Google Web Server ReDirecting to google using SSL (https).

You probably have your home page set to "http://google.com". Changing it to "https://google.com" should fix it.

Actually, my homepage opens in I.E. window, since i get eMail there.
Noticed the Green Lock on address, just worried about the extra junk.
Thanks for the info. Still trying to grasp this whole WWW thing.

Actually, my homepage opens in I.E. window, since i get eMail there.I was referring to the web page that is set to automatically open in your Chrome browser when Chrome "boots up" (and when you click the "Home" button in Chrome). It is evident that your Chrome home page is set to go to google.com.

Likewise, it sounds like your I.E. browser is set, when it opens, to automatically go to your own web page (or to the web email page of the email server that you use).

Here's are instructions on how to set the home page in Chrome (https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95314?hl=en&ref_topic=3421437).

Not to worry. In this instance, Google is actually making your connection more secure. I suppose that they did so because a lot of people were logging-in to their Google accounts on the non-SSL page (without the "lock").

Computer was telling you instead of logging onto Chrome that you would do better logging onto Tonalist :)
