I am looking to purchase a new laptop and the wireless-friendly ones kind of intrigue me.. What I can't figure out is how the Pentium M specs compare to Pentium 4 specs.

For instance, a Pentium M 1.5G processor is equivalent to what in the Pentium 4 world?

Now I am assuming these have built-in wireless cards and you only need to purchase the router?

Most have built in cards. Just make sure. And If it were my money I wouldn't buy a gateway laptop. My boss bought one a while back, and it was a piece. I would really consider a IBM, Toshiba or Dell.

I'm a computer junkie...OK, I said it, I need help! :)

Anyhow, I've had just about every brand there is to have. If you are looking for lightweight, you won't want a Toshiba Satellite, but if weight isn't a problem, this is one sweet machine. XP Pro, 17" widescreen (15" available, but 17" is great for PPs,) 512 RAM (expandable to 2 G!), DVD/RW, very nice built in harman/kardon speakers...the ultimate desktop replacement. And the price is very reasonable. Oh, and of course its completely wi-fi ready. Not so easy in Belgium, but in the states, I could always find a hot spot. Hell, you don't even have to look, it will tell you when a wireless network is available. You can adjust power properties, but I'd recommend plugging in when possible. Battery life is not a strong point. Usually easy to find at a casino, OTB, or track.

I'm not a gamer, so this is all I need. I've placed wagers from the bathroom! I won't go into any more detail ;)

I can emphatically second what CJ had to say about the Toshiba, we have the same laptop and I rarely use my desktop anymore.
