except that isn't true. Secretariat ran from the #10 in the Derby. Poetic license I guess.

I thought Secretariat ran from post #1 in the Belmont. I saw Alan Sherman stated the wrong posts & wondered where he got his facts unless I'm wrong.

Coburn has believed this all along, he told me about his sister and those dates at Santa Anita. On March 8 after the San Felipe.

At the time I though he was crazy, told him he should maybe just worry about the Santa Anita Derby but he swore to me then this horse would win the triple crown.

Him and Penny Chenery. Both believed in their soul long before their horses actually ran the Crown that they would win. Power of positive thinking, or just a random coincidence?

Well, Chrome has to grab the final jewel. If he does, I guess Coburn was right. If not, he still has a great horse and a wonderful experience.

He convinced me, a week before the derby I placed a bet he would win all 3 races.

You guys should also look up the story Sharkeys casino in Nevada is telling. They are claiming Coburn took 200-1 odds on a futures bet for the derby in January. Apparently he put $1,000 down. This guardian angel stuff isn't new to him.

Hey, did you guys hear about what happened to the 134 other guys who believed a guardian angel would escort them through the Triple Crown in the last 10 years?

Of course you didn't.

The guy got very lucky with a brilliant horse in a weak crop, and very unlucky apparently w/r/t his sister's terrible misfortune. I'm rooting for the guy. But I detest the thinly-veiled "special suffering" narrative as a proxy for saying "I deserve this."

You got very, very, lucky in the game of horse racing, Steve. Congratulations! Best of luck today!

Would you rather see Rick Dutrow/IEAH and J. Paul Redem/Doug O'Neill win the Triple Crown? They sure are the most honorable and honest people who walk the Earth. The fact that we haven't had one in 35+ yrs proves that fate is a wicked bitch.
