Some damnably brave people took him down.

I wonder. Does a shooting with a large number being killed and over the top media coverage breed more killings with smaller death tolls? Or does it breed more coverage of those smaller death toll shootings that happen from time to time and would not ordinarily get national coverage?

They took him down with pepper spray instead of a gun. The NRA will be outraged.

Good thing this shooting didn't happen in NY then...and it's a good thing law-abiding citizens continue to be prudent enough to arm themselves...pepper spray is better than nothing. Can't even do that in NY though...

You never know from State to State what laws are enforced or what you can do and can't do legally. It's a mess. Carry a loaded handgun in your trunk in certain states, and you are fine. In other States it's illegal. And in a few states, even having a loaded Magazine, even if it's not in the gun, is considered a loaded gun and is illegal.

A friend of mine was convicted of Assault because he threw a punch at someone harassing him. His punch missed, but in THAT state, just THROWING a punch gets you convicted of assault. You don't have to connect. If he had been 20 miles to the west, the State next door requires actual contact. Bad luck for him. What a mess our legal system is when you really look at it.

The young man who sprayed and subdued the shooter was the building monitor in the hall where the shooting took place. It is likely that he was allowed (probably expected) to be carrying it given the position he holds. A brave young man indeed.

Pepper spray is legal for 18+ in Washington. 14+ if the minor has parental permission
