I heard something about the change of the California workouts, how they are going to classify the works a little differently (breezing, handily, etc..)

Does anyone know the specifics of this? (Or did I misread the article?)

I though they reversed the classifications (breezing now means what Handily once did, and handily means what breezing once meant), but it got confusing (gee wiz!!), and they did away with the experiment...

What an absolutely meaningless thing to try and change in this industry when there are SO MANY OTHER things to tinker with that would make SOME SENSE!!

About the only thing trust in workouts is the distance and that if the horse was named, he probably did workout. I see no use whatsoever in the times or how it was run. There is no way to know if any of that is correct.

I think I distrist slow workouts much more than fast ones.. If I see a bullet out of 55 horses in a day, at least I know its a bullet for the day, I don't think they can lie about that..

But even that is suspect. They don't give the weight carried by the the rider during the workout, so the times can be affected greatly.

You know, I never once thought about the weights on a horse during a workout. Frankly, I don't put much 'weight' on the weights in a race, unless they are a big change.

Some of the workout riders are not jockeys and they could weigh a considerable amount.

If I got on a horse, it definitely would not be a bullet workout.
