These stories pop up from time to time. Women's rights group are working to end them.

To imply that they are covered much is probably not true. Law and Order Criminal Intent had an episode involving it. So have other TV shows. A honor killing in Arizona got a lot of coverage on the cable news channels a few years ago.

The suppression and abuse of women is sewn right into the fabric of the Qur'an.
It is not just a fringe element of fanatic Muslims who believe that women are "nothings."
