A.

Lowering take outs is much more rare than a TC winner.

I finish cleaning coffee of the table after Tom's post makes me laugh. I then proceed to take another sip, read Whizzz's post and now am cleaning coffee off the table once again.
Guys i do appreciate the laughs, although be nice if we could time them around when the housekeeper is here.:p

My 11 year old daughter talks to me about California Chrome and his chance at a Triple Crown. She hasn't mentioned takeout once.

I'll go with B.....

Because only those who have bet on the sport for years know the problem of high takeout--a Triple Crown. CBS Evening News showed CalC winning the Preakness last night on their newscast. Scott Pelly spoke of him going for the Triple Crown at Belmont in 3 weeks. This is the one thing that the general public knows and understands about horseracing.

On balance (and as much as I'd like to see a Triple Crown winner), I opt for A. There are positives to both. A lower takeout would be an everyday benefit for current players, while the Triple Crown occurs only once a year. On the other hand, the Triple Crown has greater visibility to people who don't ordinarily follow racing, and might (emphasis on the "might") add people and wagering dollars to the fan base. However, without a change in the mindset of racing's management in favor of reforms such as lower takeouts, there would be a serious question in my mind as to how long those new fans would remain interested.

I want to give my kid the $2 win ticket on CC so he can sell it on ebay for $1000 in 20 years! Maybe I will buy 50 $2 tickets that will pay for his college education...

I'll go with B.

A Triple Crown winner is forever. A lowering of the vig will only last until next season.
