Deshawn went down trying to pull up the ill-fated
Blushing Martha in 8th @Mountaineer last night.
9th race was delayed quite awhile, so i assume
he was transported to hospital by track ambulance.

I don't have an update.

I saw the race. Thinking of the horse first and putting himself at risk, Deshawn jumped off his ill-fated mount even before the horse came to complete stop. Deshawn was lucky enough for all the other horses to to ride past him before he jumped off (though the one on the rail was close) so whatever damage occurred was a result of the fall to the ground. That's how it looked to me. I think I did see in the background where Deshawn sat up on the ground after the incident. Sometime after that the ambulance took him to the hospital.

he's the nicest kid too, he rides all my horses in Presque Isle, i was going to send him up to New York along with my filly to ride her there, the filly has a great shot there and i would love to get him a win in Belmont.

Saw the race and thought he made it safely.

Sorry about Blushing Martha. You could tell even from a distance it didn't look good.

RIP game warrior.

Sidenote: It was a 'bridge-jump' race. I believe about $34,000 of $40,000 show dollars were on Blushing Martha.

Guy should move his tack to NY. There's been an opening for a tall intelligent jock in NY since Jan of 2013.

he would do really well, he's the russell baze of the midwest, smart, rides em hard all the way, etc. maybe most underrated jock in america.

Especially with the Mountain cutting in schedule by 40%, I would jump ship to AQU, at least in the winter.

I remember him being 1/2 at Belmont this summer. Rode a short turf sprint winner just fine.

Didn't he try Tampa with only moderate success a few years ago? Don't have the numbers to back it up, but seem to recall expecting nice things of him down there & don't really remember the meet living up to it.

So the horse was the one the bridge-jumper was on? Sadly, this isnt the first time I've seen a bridge-jumper horse go down to injury. I love the betting opportunity, but not in that way....

RIP.

That sucks. The kid is finally going to get his shot in the big time and he gets hurt.
Hopefully, you'll put him back on your horses once he returns....

You'll get the grassy knoll gang "riled up" with that sort of info.

5000 wins for the gentleman jockey! Great call Pete congrats Deshawn!

cant bet against dsp, he wins when he's the best and even when he's not. doesn't matter who he rides or how 'slow' they are on paper, they win by 100 lengths, he won at least 2 tonight that didnt appear fastest on paper and he won by, basically, the length of the stretch geared down in both races.

hard track to play now, this guy is too much of a factor, its not horse racing its jockey racing.

As a fan, I love his riding style. Smooth and smart. Its not just "I have the better horse or I pump harder than you for the lead" with DP. Theres something about tall jocks that seems to give them better vision or balance.
