What does a solid box, and a box with what appears to be an 'l' in the middle represent? This is an equibase/trackmaster form. It seems I constantly find things, that I can't find in their product info. Thanks for any insight.

Or, I should say 'surface' designation.

Is it a T? That would be inner turf.

No, it looks like an 'l' or an 'I' without the serif. That, and a solid box.

Which track or tracks?

Or, maybe we can go at it this way. The first horse in Race 4 at Pimlico on Saturday, shows a solid box 4 races back. The 1A horse shows a solid box 3 races back.
Maybe someone with a different form can clear it up.

Will post similar for the 'l', but gotta run for now.

Race was originally scheduled for the turf.

Thanks.

Ok, an example of the boxed 'l' is Race 7 (again 5/17 Pimlico) - the first horse (Germaniac) two races back. 8 Mar 14 @ Aqueduct.

I'd suggest that you look up the charts for those two races (free at Equibase (http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbRaceChartCalendar.cfm?tid=PIM&ctry=USA)) and see what the surface was for those races.

The usual symbol for off turf is an X in a circle. The Aqueduct race was on inner dirt. Some PPs use a black dot in a box for that, others use a "d" in a box. Trackmaster PPs I have seen use the "d".

Thanks. Yeah, I think it is inner dirt....and am used to the X and the dot. First time using this form.

If the horse is I. E. Flash, his fourth race back is at Tampa on a wet fast track. All of this info is free at Equibase as linked above.

Oops, I meant to say off turf, wet fast. Chart here. (http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbPDFChartPlus.cfm?BORP=P&STYLE=EQB&DAY=D&tid=TAM&dt=02/07/2014&ctry=USA&race=9)
