Nice story about three young students who bought a secondhand couch for $20 at a thrift store in NY. Imagine their surprise when they found out that the pillows were stuffed with envelopes containing cash. $40,000 worth.......

If it happened to you, what would you do?
I wish I could say that I would automatically return the money.
It's a bit of a head scratcher, though. ;)

No doubt in my mind that I would return the money and I eagerly await the opportunity to prove it. ;)

Buy a painting worth a million, or a vase worth a bundle at a garage sale, no problem, finders keepers.

Find money in a couch or a piano you just bought at a thrift store, let's find the previous owner or their family.

Really, this is a double standard.

I think the proper reward would have been at LEAST 1k each.

Its the big NWO plan to convince you that even cash you find is someone else's. (usually the police or the govt)

No good deed goes unpunished.

For those that would keep it because they feel that there is no obligation, legal, moral, or whatever, to attempt to return found money...

...I'm curious how you list it on tax forms?

Gift? Other income? Gambling winnings?

".....(found in a $50 couch)... $4 0 , 0 0 0 . 0 0"

"Uh... NjStinks, you better call the DEA, DHS, and ATF on this one..."

Just give it back and don't be haunted by it.
