Ok, we are only a few days out. :)

Friday is looking very wet, so we might be on the watch for an off track.

Saturday is looking a little better.

I'll get the party started with some early picks:

In the "Pimlico Special" , I will try to beat the M/L favorite (Revolutionary) with "Moreno" and a small saver on "Golden Lad"

In the "Black Eyed Susan" :, I will try to beat the favorite "Storchargingmaria" with "Joint Return" and a saver on "Sloan Square"

 One more quick thought if I may: I love (LOVE) me some Rosie Napravnick , but due to some local ties, the last two years I have thought her mounts tend to get bet down on Preakness weekend. (I maybe wrong, its just my impression)

So, who do you like in the undercards?

I like Arethusa and Sloan Square in the Black Eyed Susan...probably put them in with StopChargingMaria, and hope for a price.

Arethusa / Shannon Nicole with CC.....Like Arethusa best.... she has faced some speed-favoring conditions out west.

I'll need to do some research, but if I understand, the track tomorrow will be UGLY.

The horse wearing scuba "flippers" may fare best. :)

EDIT -- OH JEEZ- 1/2" an inch of rain tonight, with another 1-2" of rain on Friday.

Looking at the #3 Moreno in the Pimlico Special, the #3 Shanon Nicole (along with the #4 and #7) in the Black-Eyed Susan, and the #3 California Chrome in the Preakness (but I won't bet CC, and will take a serious look at #5 Bayern instead).

A few I like on Friday:

Black Eyed Susan
taking a shot with #3 Shanon Nicole, Mike Smith up. Bred for the slop, sits behind a tepid pace and can finish these off with a decisive move. ML favorite Stopchargingmaria is just too slow by my figs and will be underlaid in my humblest opinion. She also happens to be the only GrStks winner in the field (she has two) but I'm trying to beat her. I understand if you don't agree though as Pletcher does very well in this race, and he has the class filly.
I will also use #2 America, #5 Euphrosyne and a little bit of #8 Sloane Square.
Ex: 2-5 w 3
Ex: 3 w 2-4-5-8
Win: 3

Skipat
Nice race.
Basically, the #2 Five Star Momma is among the fastest in a very evenly matched field....but she may have too much pace company to survive. She is a need the lead type and Munnings Sister & Winning Image may deny her that lead. Still though, the 2nd and 3rd races back for the #2 are both pretty nice, although she won neither of them. She was edged by #1 She's Ordained (while conceding 6lbs), and I will be using her also. Working lights out during her freshening.
#4 Risky Rachel should get a dream trip just off a fast pace. Not as fast as some others in here, but the pace shakeout should benefit her. Capable on an off track, but her last two in the slop were terrible. NY bred needs a lil racing luck and a contested pace.
And what about #8 Flattering Bea....hmmmm?? DO NOT dismiss Crystal Pickett on Preakness weekend, ever. We did it last year and this very runner almost blew us up 52-1 in the Miss Preakness. A must use underneath in my book.
Gonna spread a bit and try to beat who I think is a bad ML chalk in the #6 Munnings Sister, who I think will be gassed by the pace, and hasn't exactly been a strong finisher this year. No thanks.
Ex: 1-2-4 w 1-2-4-8
Win: 2-8

We have arranged to meet a farrier at the gates today and he's going to generously equip us all with mud calks!

I wonder if the trainers that would normally scratch their horses because of rain will hold back today. Whether it's the purses or trying to keep the races full. That would lead to more vulnerable favorites. And more cashola for them mudders

Wasted my midnight oil, scratches make the card basically unplayable. What a shame.

BES - going for a price.....

:10: :9: :3:

Equibase decided to do some kind of data dump today - clogged up servers everywhere. Tuesday nights were not convenient, I guess. You go to the EB site and the scratches are so light, you can't even print them. Incompetence!

Nice small, "more money for me" fist pump by Pletcher. Must be nice to "win" thousands of dollars with no risk.

Valid ran a dynamite race in the Special. Set a sprinters pace, buried the other speeds, and held on okay for fourth.

Shanon Nicole, on the other hand, was a total disappointment.

We did well today - hit a nice win & exacta in the Miss Preakness and my brother took down the nice exacta in the Special.

Met up with Wiffleball Whizz and Proximity today and had a great time.
Two solid fellows.
Thanks for the Heineken Whizz!

And how about that jockey in the Race For The Cure race who totally fell asleep and got nailed on the wire....scandalous!
I had the top two boxed but had a win bet on what looked like a sure winner.
