Rip Jimmy Ellis

Died yesterday at 74. Fought and lost to Joe Frazier for the heavyweight championship in 1970. Also lost to Ali in the 12th round in 1971. Good boxing skills, just never was quite good enough to get on top. The Frazier/Ellis fight was heavily promoted and many including myself saw it as an even matchup. Believe Ellis was stopped in the 5th round, but not 100% sure on that.
Rest in peace tough guy.

Sadly, he paid the price for being a professional boxer. It is a brutal sport. People talk about hits in football, they are nothing compared to what boxers go through.
