Since crushing the Derby yesterday playing the X-factor and Rasmussen factor special in California Chrome, decided to start a new thread dedicated to 2 and 3 yo Maidens that by my definition of carrying the x on the tail female and or carry inbred matron mares.
Will be following these horses through Belmont, Pimlico, Monmouth, Churchill, Santa Anita and any other interesting pedigrees of note.

Only scare is low % trainer, but looks fit from my favorite workout patterns.
A nice breeze from the gate and attracts Karamanos (I like).
This is a homebred from Mr William Wright and mare has been a solid MD producer. Claibourne bred 2nd dam by Nijinsky II and Corinthian comes from Nijinsky mare line. This is what I called a "closed line". Both female line from same stallion. Traces X-factor back to Princequillo mare Cherokee Rose.

Not a play per se but look at the inbreeding on the :1: Startripenterprise in the 4th race on Thurs at Belmont. Is this too close? I was always told when you get this close you can either get a stone cold runner or a serious nut job. But his is really closed due to Silent Screen being on both tail female lines.
This cross going to become quite popular due to prevalence of both stallions Unbridled and Storm Cat. No play but should be interesting to watch. http://www.pedigreequery.com/startripenterprise

Big threat to California Chrome if he moves forward towards the Belmont.

I think you would DO MUCH better by limiting these to races 1 1/8th..ie..9f's or LONGER...

after all that's what you're looking for w/THIS PARTICULAR breedings...stamina...correct???

otherwise you gonna beat your head :bang: on shorter races going against CURRENT breeding as is ALL FOR shorter...by 99% racing...in USA...

The Peter Pan is a one turn 1 1/8th. Not sure what you are getting at. While I am definitely looking for that extra stamina, I am also looking at the quality of the pedigree and how it is put together. I like to see quality sires down thru the female line. By looking for females on these lines in hoping to find the higher quality breedings. It is like this. When a broodmare sire is hot, only the best breeders can afford the blood if it quality. So if the line goes back to War Admiral, how did we get to today. Was the line kept in good hands. This will be evidenced by which sires were used going forward. Was the line a cull.
Look at Zenyatta. http://www.pedigreequery.com/zenyatta
Go back to her 5th dam Legendra Foundation mare for Newstead Farm. Up to the 2nd dam this line was developed by the great Virginia breeders. Not sold until dispersal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertram_and_Diana_Firestone
So this line has not really been a cull, developed by racing breeders and bred to quality classic type stallions.

So with this idea of quality in mind in the x-factor, I am not only looking for stamina but also for "keeper" pedigrees.

The Commish has Belmont winners on top and bottom and is a massive guy that should love Big Sandy. Just wondering why the no love? Inbred to Buckpasser in the 4th?
Looked like he left his race in the saddling of the Arkansas Derby and he might just be too slow, but he is a grand looking individual and hope he runs well enough to make the Belmont.

Looks to me that the Peter Pan does not set up well for him though with Fabulous Kid the lone speed, he will be hard to run down. That being said, the Preakness might have been a better choice with what looks like a hotter pace for him to run at. Good luck.

The best male from the immediate family is Blumin Affair, which to me suggests that Commissioner would be better suited to being an older male going much further. With the connections he will be pushed to make the Travers or Haskell and can see him imploding. Hope I am wrong.

Great pedigree, just not in a Maiden claimer. Sorry for not seeing that early and telling you to save your money. With that pedigree the horse should have never been running for a tag in Wash and Northern Cali. Was a big time cull. Will need to run much cheaper. Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there a including those great mares that are bringing us the athletes in which we make our game.
While this thread is in selections, I hope folks will use this as a reference as I will keep it going through Belmont.
Enclosed is a printable list of all Reines de Course-Queens of Turf and here is a nice link with lots of information regarding the research of the Ellen Parker series.
http://www.reines-de-course.com/
First I would like to thank http://www.pedigreequery.com/ for having great information at a very reasonable fee (free). Here is how I use for a quick scan.
Open in a new tab and then from the form you are using cut and past into the search horse box and wa-la. It is also kind of fun to use the portraits and see who the horse looks most like in the pedigree. With the info on the pedigree, I follow the bottom line down and look for quality.
The other easy to look for free is to use Equibase and through the entries page you can link to free 5 gen with auction results.
What I personally like to see in a pedigree is what I call "breed to race" intention. In this day and age so many breeders are breeding for the sales ring. While this can result in great horses, I am firm believer that truly great animals come from the philosophy of the Great Ferderico Tesio, :
"The Thoroughbred exists because its selection has depended, not on experts, technicians, or zoologists, but on a piece of wood: the winning post of the Epsom Derby. If you base your criteria on anything else, you will get something else, not the Thoroughbred."
Here is the link to Anne Peters website where I borrowed the quote from. This is truly one of the best. http://www.pedigreegoddess.com/pedigrees.htm

Now with all this said above, I will start today's search and report by 12 est.
Feel free to post your selections, comments or questions as I will be playing untill 4pm est. Thanks for reading.

The :10: Kato has every right to close well and will need an inside lagging early, to the rail and swing outside turning for home kind of ride, I like the stoutness of pedigree. The Dam was also a favorite of mine here in PA.

Hello!

PREMIUM (Belmont race 8) has been a pedegree play. By a $150.00 (fee) turf stallion out of a daughter of top class mare Jolypha, she had been stopping in England like a filly crying for a cut back from the mile &1/2. She's paid $48.00.

Where you been Mr Spaniard. Saw that too late. Love the Woodman too.Just started fishing the Delaware River and was bangin the catfish today.
SA Race 2
Really anticipating the debut of the offspring of The Pamplemousse. :6: Dam was first out winner and has one first sib. Secretariat on the tail female.
Like the works. Tote is cold is concern. Over betting the Lucky Pulpit IMHO on the :7:
5s :6: and will be watching this guy for his next three.

Peter Miller is good with raw speed and :7: LUCKY LOGAN is the only expensive (150k) of the bunch. A race to pass.

pure Pamplemouse!

Should have bet the win and did it big. The :6: is a fine looking animal and should be tough going forward. Look very much like his father and gets a double dose of gray from his Sire and Relaunch. Like this guy even though meager return. The :7: looks like he popped a shin or splint. Like homebred 2yo's much better than sale babies, especially CA breds. Better watch Elvis, the new Rafael.

The Mike Lee 7 fur 3yo
With the scratch of Uncle "Sigh", I am anxiously awaiting the appearance of :10: Captain Serious-The magic 4th foal from a very nicely bred Mr. Greeley mare. Princequillo tail female and bred on same cross as Closing Arguement. Figures to get stalking trip outside and should have plenty left turning for home.
Bankroll 91.50

Also a big fan of the Frost Giants

Crushed foes geared down. Here is what I like about the pedigree. 2nd dam carries doubles of Buckpasser. Mr Prospector/Buckpasser has been a very nice cross. See Gone West and others. Successful Appeal did cross well on Mr Greeley mares and I very much like Mr Greeley mares. http://www.pedigreequery.com/captain+serious
Just saw the horse made the 7fur in 1:20 and change.
Return 5.25 after the other Hushion folded like a cheap suit trying to follow the winner. Look forward to this guy at the SPA.

Right! Last time he had closed 2,5l over a fast second call (22.3) with something left to win easily with a high figure...

ARL 8th Springfield 100k for ILL 3yo
Playing against the big pedigree of the :9: A Step Ahead. Being overbet.
Like the modest pedigree of the :3: Rambling Ritchie. Goes back to the foundation mare Eclair which has solid milers including Blushing Groom.
5ws :3:
Moral of that story, is a Tiznow first time fit, going long with very nice works for owner trainer crushes field. The :3: is still running.

Needs the weeds

Not with Wilmer Garcia. Horse had a chance to run a big race but not being checked repeatedly. I like that horse next out with a better rider going short on the weeds.

A home spun pedigree angle for me.
The American Oaks. Once a fixture at BHP. now at SA.
I really like the brood mare sire of the :3: Little Journey. Word has it these are some kind of cool headed and trying sort of animals. And then when you look at the bottom side, you sort of quiver for stoutness. Start with Donatello.
http://www.pedigreequery.com/lighted+glory 5th dam.
And then look at the modern pedigrees.
http://www.pedigreequery.com/little+journey
This is an example of a complete out cross. No inbreeding through 5 generations and look at the stoutness on the bottom and then add Danehill
20wp :4: on what looks like what Joe Bravo was made for today.

P.S. This is an example of color coat genetics. Linamix is a homozygous grey, meaning he only sires gray foals. His genetics have overridden a all bay and blk line.

I like too :4: SWEET BLISS, a mix of high class and stamina in both sides, and with huge odds (right now 8-1). The French filly had a career over second rate tracks in France...

Ouch. Will keep him in stable mail as he was ridden easy home. I like this horse and think he might need to grow up a bit.
