But Samraat doesn't need the lead. I think he is the boss pace horse and will stalk & take the lead when he pleases...hopefully not too soon.

I hate the way the Wood was run. The fourth quarter-mile was done in 25.23 seconds, after a pretty fast 6f. Then the second/third place finishers did the last 1/8th in about 13.6+, crawling home. Wicked Strong was the proverbial one-eyed king in the land of the blind. Deceptive. I feel that his uninterrupted, one-run stroll in that race will not be duplicated.

Samraat ran about a 1:50 for 9f in the Wood. He was decelerating to about a 13.3-13.5 per furlong at that point and getting slower. So it would be a conservative extrapolation to say that--allowing for duplication of his near-ideal Wood trip and everything else--he is capable of doing about a 2:04 a for 10f (14 seconds for the final 1/8th).

Now 2:04+/- might get him a piece (or outside chance for a win, given this crowd), but it would take the stars aligning to achieve it. In addition, he will be one of those forward--but seeming to be going backwards--as the final part of the stretch run unfolds. Borderline, and close to being a toss for everything, imo.
