if GM gets a pass on this then the phrase "let the buyer beware" takes on a whole new meaning. These cars have "systems" that were not available even 10 years ago. Trust is a very huge part of purchasing a new car. If GM can talk the talk but can't walk the walk then it is time to say good bye to GM.

WOW....definitely a sticky situation for GM. From the legal perspective, I can see (although I do not agree) with them attempting to protect themselves. But, I would think they assume responsibility when one of the officials says "GM has taken responsibility for its actions and will keep doing so," spokesman Jim Cain said in an emailed statement".
By them replacing said defective parts, I would assume they are assuming responsibility for said part.
This does not at all bode well for the "new GM".
