Here's a question I would appreciate feedback on. What 1st-time-turf percentage qualifies a trainer as being good? For first-timers on dirt I like to see something around (preferably above) 20pct before I get excited; it strikes me that on turf, because of breeding, distance, pace and size-of-field, that an above-average competence percentage would probably be lower. My gut feeling is low double-digit (10-12 pct.) but this is a feeling I have neither the competence nor the data to back up.

Your ideas are welcomed.

By the way, it's around the time to wish all of you season's greetings. May all your major bets in 2002 come home; may all your minor bets be interesting.

i would consider 12-15% a reasonably good win
% for first time turf.if you stay away from the
likely suspects,MOTT,CLEMENT DICKINSON a
low % with the right pedigree to me is a play.

do you use MAIDEN STATS?{BRIS}?
GULFSTREAM PARK should have maiden
turf races again this year.
