Nice hit in the Petticoat.

That whole race was kind of puzzling. The two consolations went in 1:54.3 and 1:55.3 earlier in the night. The entry in the Petticoat went off at 1-9, and Brennan's horse got a soft half of 59, and the entrymates were head to head at 3Q in 1:28, which should have been a walk in the park - but they both came up totally empty (neither one even got a check!). Very strange, both of them (particularly Sears) appeared to be full of pace at the half.

The exotic payoffs were light too... the $2 exacta paid $130 when it should have paid around $375 - $400 or so. And the $2 Tri paid $500 when it could have paid, I don't know, $3000? (10-1 over 18-1 over 19-1, with a 1-9 shot off the ticket)

NOT blaming the drivers. Brennan and Sears put their horses in position to win. So was the entry way overbet in the win pool, or did someone have a pretty good feeling that the entry would be empty tonight?

You are right. The exotics were smaller than they should have been. But maybe because there was no place or show betting. But Mach was a contender. It's not like an impossible longshot won.
