I put my name on the support list and also asked to join the founding committee/advisory board, and encourage everyone to do the same.

It it logical that a national governing body be run by the racehorse owners. They are the “team owners” of the sport, with the trainers being the “team managers” hired by the team owners. The racehorse owners also own the publicity rights of their horses. If you want to draw that similarity, how do fans align themselves? I don't want to be stuck to one city

Horse racing misses all kinds of opportunities to market itself better.

A good example is the horse-of-the-year nonsense. Why should that be up to a vote? Why not have year round standings, for each category, where points can be earned for each race (graded points system)?

Imagine the NBA or NFL without standings. Who would still care? With standings there is a story. A story that people can follow from week to week. Now they have a reason to come back, because they want to know how the story continues. And when people keep coming back, the media have a reason to cover the sport (advertisers). And so on.

Horse racing. Great sport. Imbecile marketing.
