Silly post.

Didn't want to run his last race. Was freaking out in the paddock and showed sign of a lot of distress.

I don't think its that silly.....ready might be the wrong word but he did not look good before the race even started. No one could know he would get hurt....but I had my doubts that this horse was going to the derby as soon as I heard he was entered in that race. When I saw him in that race...it kind of confirmed it. At this point the horse has to at least be sharp. He didn't even look the part in an allowance race.....how was he going beat some of these in a month and a half? He never even got a whiff of the winner and was spinning his wheels to lose by 10 and he was going to have to run much better next time to even make it on points vs. all stakes quality 3 yo's. Its hard to miss training and then play catch up when some of the competition is already sharp as nails. Talent does not matter unless there is physical and mental conditioning to go with it. As soon as he came back in that race and people here were calling him Whirlaway.....I was with Tom and thinking Uncle Mo.

It is a shame, some of the most exciting 2 yr old's are in the barn now. Lesson learned, avoid the futures pool all together!

Sad but relieved. Could be a good handicapper or not? Who knows?

You aint just whistling Dixie when your talking about the injuries. If there is a triple crown winner it will be the only three year old who doesn't have bruised ankles, bucked shins, or torn ligaments. :( What are the odds of a Derby walkover?

Somebody mentioned staggerfest yesterday. With the amount of speed and lack of stamina with this year's survivors it could be the slowest quarter mile finish in history!
