Bevo Francis set the NCAA single game scoring record of 113 points in his sophomore season in 1954. There were no 3 point shots and no 1 & 1 fouls. He made 37 of 45 free throw attempts.
Jack Taylor broke the record a year or so ago with 138 points.
He actually set the single game scoring record in his freshman season with 116 points, but the NCAA stripped it from him retroactively because he set the record against a two year school. The head coach of Ohio State was instrumental in getting the record revoked. Apparently, he was jealous. His record was something like 10-12. Rio Grande was 39-0. Rio Grande wanted to play Ohio State, but Ohio State refused. There was no upside for Ohio State if they lost to a college with only 38 boys!
