I bet a lot of races and never had this happen to me before...
I bet the 5 in this race and the 1 horse lost his rider right out of the gate..
the 5 went for the lead but the 1 crossed the field inside the 5 and carried
the 5 way out I mean way out...of course the 5 lost his advantage and position
after the race they called an inquiry. I thought I would get my money back as
a non starter...but no such luck...my question is there a rule to cover riderless horses affecting the race so drastically..it was not a huge bet..but I just
thought if not there should be.......

The race in question took place on March 3.

The only way you would have gotten your money back is if the race had been declared a "no contest".

The horse you bet on received a fair start, and it was just bad racing luck that the loose horse interfered with your horse.

Years ago I had a bet on a race at GG. A horse threw a rider and then turned around and ran counter to the race. As the horses entered the stretch this horse headed straight for them. The jockeys all pulled up their horses or went real wide to avoid this horse heading straight for them. Once the horse passed them, the race resumed running. There was so much interference that there wasn't any way anyone could say this was a real horse race. But they were so desperate at GG for pool money, that they let it stand. The race should have been voided and money should have been returned.
