An AT&T tech just left my house trying to interpret why I am losing DSL Bandwidth....

I showed him the website that I used to run my bandwidth speed tests...It was one that many people use, it is the AT&T "Speed Test" site.....But, the tech said that it wasn't a very reliable test site....

He then turned me onto this site: http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Most likely many of you know of this site as well, but I didn't, is all...

The nice feature of this site is that you can change the channel that you can ping with....Say Atlanta, or D.C. or Frisco, depending on how the traffic there may be at either or any one site....This is good to know, for me at least, because sometimes a city (1 of 10) may give you a false or misleading reading, vs. using one that reflects the "true" bandwidth...

Have been using this several years now and check my speed daily. Only takes a moment.

Is 30.89 Mbps download speed good, bad or indifferent?
what about 10.82 for upload?

It's fine:

Average U.S. download speed 11.00.

Average U.S upload speed 4.0

With Cox Cable's fastest i'm running 60.00 and 30.00 respectively

I have never seen anything like 4mb upload! I do get 23mb down, though.

perhaps you should see if more bandwidth would help your cause.

I mean, width helped sammy ;) :D

sometimes slow is good! ;)

I suppose mine is due to having dial up

That's blazing for dial-up isn't it?

Here's another diognostic site to consider:

www.pcpitstop.com

Could someone please explain the results I received when I did my speed test. I used both www.speakeasy.com and www.pcpitstop.com, seconds apart, done just about five minutes ago before posting.

Tested at www.speakeasy.com, using the New York server:

D/l speed: 26.70 mbps (huh??!!); U/l speed: 5.08 mbps.

Tested on the Wash DC server:

D/l speed: 18.74 mbps; U/l speed: 5.07 mbps

Tested at www.pcpitstop.com, using only the Wash DC server:

D/l speed: 17.98 mbps; U/l speed: 4.98 mbps

I subscribe to FIOS with the 15/5 internet capabilities.

Thanks.
