My son graduates from Air Force Basic Training on March 6th. He called last night to let us know about the death of a new recruit, possibly, from heat stroke.

His name was Terron J. Moore. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this difficult time.

Went through Officer Training School at Medina, outside Lackland, nearly 50 years ago, summer of 1964. They had a "red flag" system for those days when it was too hot and humid to do strenuous training, but is was honored more in the breach than in the observance. The drill sergeants and other trainers ran us and worked us until nearly everyone puked their guts up. Somehow, I got through it, although I very gracelessly fell off the rope across the river on the confidence (obstacle) course.

Prayers for his family; maybe they'll find he had a pre-existing condition, although that doesn't lessen the tragedy for them.
